which river to choose?
If you are planning a trip to Bali, or you are already there, you don’t want to miss white water rafting !! This is truly one of the best experiences on this beautiful island and I want to share some general information with you about what you can expect, as well as a guide to the 2 main rivers: Telaga Waja and Sungai Ayung.
General advice on going white water rafting in Bali
With all the things I will tell you, only one thing is certain, and that is that each trip will be very different. This will depend on a number of things, such as the time of year and the company where you decide to go, because all have different starting and ending points.
But there are some things that will be similar, such as:
- Time: pick-up time is usually from 9:00 to 9:30 (from Ubud, this might be earlier if you are in the South). The actual rafting time is between 2-2.5 hours. The expiration time is around 2:00 p.m. and you will return to Ubud at 2:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Distance: the length of the river you will see is usually around 12-14 km. This will vary from company to company because they will choose which part of the river you can carry.
- Lunch: lunch is always included and consists of several fruits, rice, vegetable dishes, noodle dishes (usually vegetarian as well) and meat dishes. Very basic and local food, but good too.
- Views: You will see a stunning view of the forest on the Ayung River and Telaga Waja. Honestly I can’t say which one I like because both are beautiful! Both rivers have waterfalls that fall into rivers and in the right season they can be very fun because
